Amanda Blakey
Senior Manager
I’m Amanda and I’m a Senior Manager of the Risk Assurance and Advisory Team (RAA). I have over 20 years’ experience, primarily working with not-for-profit organisations, which include housing associations, and multi-academy trusts.
The nitty-gritty
Certified Internal Auditor with Chartered Institute of Internal Audit (CIIA)

My story
I started my audit career in local government before transitioning over to NHS Internal audit and linked healthcare providers, followed by a number of years spent working with not-for-profit organisations. During this time my focus was on Councils, NHS, Multi Academy Trusts, Colleges and Housing.
Over the years I have witnessed the challenges faced by audit clients and the commitment of their staff. One of the many reasons I have stayed working in this sector is the passion I share with those who work in this sector, that makes a real impact on individual’s lives, where control can make a significant difference in aiding a process. My ethos is that we should work openly alongside clients to build a transparent and effective relationship with positivity and no surprises along the way.
I am experienced Manager, leading large teams of both qualified and trainee staff and enjoy the process of identifying individual’s strengths and upskilling where possible.
I do this too…
I grew up in the countryside, before moving to the coast for several years which has enhanced my love for the outdoors. I find a walk through the woods, fields, coastal paths and exploring places with my dog soothes the soul whilst listening to the sounds that surround me.
I also enjoy Yoga and Pilates for relaxation and strength, somewhat lower key than my former days when I ran charity runs such as Tough Mudder and Escape from Meriden where I walked 40 miles in 24hrs to raise money for a local hospice.
I am one to take on a challenge, so when my son declared that our local skatepark was outdated, I found myself as a project manager fundraising around £80k for a new skatepark, which is now a popular feature in our village.
Outside of sports and fundraising, I love spending time with my friends and family, and hosting BBQs and dinners with my partner and three children.
